The TV remote control clicks sent to the Token Registry form the opt-in database that Backchannelmedia’s Research and Analysis tools use to provide advertisers, agencies, content owners and others with invaluable information that can be used to adjust campaign budgets and modify plans in real-time.
The Token Registry is the heart of the Backchannelmedia system: It forms the bridge between TV and the Internet and closely resembles the characteristics of a domain registry. Backchannelmedia’s suite of software, manages the enhanced tracking of Internet and video content from inside the walled gardens of cable and broadcast infrastructure while linking to the Token Registry to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of message delivery.
The interaction between Token IDs and the Token Registry
When a Token ID is cataloged in the Token Registry, the Registry will manage and then deliver all the appropriate information (metadata) to the relevant media outlet and the viewer’s Backchannelmedia account. This information includes —among other things—the look of the ID, the precise moment it is to appear, the program to which it is linked, the genre of that program, the length of time the ID remains on the screen and what web link to forward to the Backchannelmedia Portal once the ID is selected.
Like the telephone, the Backchannelmedia Token Registry system is designed to connect a high quality message (high definition television content) to the exact connection (the Internet web site or page) the viewer seeks. Backchannelmedia is a new type of multimedia telephone—a new type of operating system—for multichannel video providers and the Internet.
